Lakeside Chats || Steph and Daniel

d-reyes:

Daniel checked his appearance one last time in the mirror, before deeming himself smart enough. He wore gray chinos with a yellow shirt and a gray varsity jacket, unlike the last time he went to the lake in just shorts. Checking his hair one last time, he exited the cabin and started to walk down towards the lake. He hadn’t seen much of her lately, in fact, he hadn’t seen much of anyone lately. He’d been so busy reading his books, he had completely forgotten that there was actually a life outside of his bedroom. When Steph had suggested doing something, he was more than happy to meet up with her, and the lake was one of his favorite places after the stables. Even though she hadn’t been at camp that long, and they hadn’t known each other until recently, he enjoyed her company a lot, and from his experience with her so far, he could lead a conversation with her without getting bored, which was always a huge plus in his books. He grinned when he saw that Stephanie had already arrived, and he lifted his hand in a casual wave. “Hey,” he greeted as he closed up on her. He sat down next to her and leaned back on his palms. “So, what have you been up to lately? And how exactly do you intend to cure my boredom?” he asked with a cheeky grin.

She smiled slightly when he sat down next to her, leaning back on the palms of his hands and focusing his dark brown eyes on her. “Lately, I have been taking care of a sickly Matt Waters,” she informed him, chuckling a bit at the thought of Matt quarantined back at his cabin. “And I actually just learned to swim, embarrassingly enough.” She flushed a bit, a chagrined look on her face. “I’m eighteen, I know. I’m just never learned.” She laughed lightly, shaking her head. “What have you been doing, Daniel?”

He asks her how she’s going to cure her boredom and she gives him a look, pursing her lips. “Hmm,” she murmurs, pretending to ponder the question. “I could do…this!” she squeals, pretending to push him off the dock but catching him at the last second. She giggles happily, even more when she sees the shocked look on his face.
